Great photo printer, low cost ink, one caveat for Mac users and beware Windows 7
This all in one unit produces great, low cost lab quality photos. Kodak inks are the least expensive out there, and their papers are inexpensive too. The scanner is decent quality. The printer is a little noisy, nothing crazy. Love the auto paper handler that senses what type of document you’re printing and uses the appropriate paper. Had no problem setting things up over the network for both Mac OS X (Leopard) as well as Vista 64 (which transferred no problem to the Windows 7 beta I just upgraded to). Scans and prints over the network no problem. The *only* issue, and its a small one, is that Mac users are not provided an scanning application if you want to initiate the Kodak ESP 7 from the computer. You have to use Apple’s Image Capture to scan and its a little clunky with this unit…although you can still initiate scans from the scanner itself, regardless of the OS. For Windows, Kodak supplies a typical “all in one” scanning and printing app to make things cleaner. Overall, its a very good unit.
